Which antivirus should I pick

I wouldn't recommend getting bit defender, I have used it before and have to say that it is a real pain, notifications all the time....

My recommendation:
Avast Internet Security 2014

I would definitely recommend this anti-virus as it sells at an affordable price and is a great anti-virus to use, there is an option to disable the notifications for anti-virus database updates and also an option to disable the sounds making it a great silent piece of software.

Thanks for respons but are you sure it's one alot of awards and even a antivrius expert on this site said so himself?

Hi ciaranmc2011,

a good antivirus and free is AVG Antivirus Free edition
https://www.avg.com.au/products/avg-anti-virus-free/?gc...

also a decent antivirus is good but i would also recommend a good firewall, to stop things going out and coming in from the internet without your permission

a really good and free firewall is
Zone Alarm Free firewall
http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/cdn/2010/search...

i use both and have never had any problems , both have saved my ass more than once

HERE

If you want an anti-virus and firewall, choose "Internet Security", Premier just offers features such as a data shredder, automatic software updater, access anywhere) on the page that I linked above, if you click on "Comparison" you can see the difference between internet security and the premier suite

Hope I helped :)

my cpu usage right now is 2% and i have multiple programs open
I have used avast and found it to be problematic with a poor virus database , as for eset i have never used it,
everyone has different opinions on what is best , ultimately go with what you want , nearly all of them have a thirty day trial so trial whatever you want for 30days , if you don't like it then uninstall and try something else , pay for it if you are happy with it

That's very true I had a full version of AVG on my other PC it blocked like 2 trojans the whole year I was using it and every test I ran it was clean, I'm just paranoid to think that's even possible but if everyone here is happy with avast then I am, also what the firewall on Avast internet security like?. Thank everyone for your replys also

http://www.av-test.org/en/test-procedures/award/2013/ I personally like F-Secure myself. It ranks pretty high in all categories, second place for home use, and leads in corporate protection. If it's good enough for corporate protection, then it should be good for anybody IMO.

You see guys this is what I'm talking about a complete 180, now back to bitdefender as that was rated highest on all charts lol

I've heard complaints from people over bit defender as well, so i recommended the second best one on their list. :p I game and I use F-secure. I have never had any perfromance issues at all with it. I've used norton and mcafee and I always run into issues at some point with certain games. Having to set permissions and garbage like that. Not only that, but I found that they bogged my system down quite a bit in certain situations. Usually that is caused by the real time scanning though....
