first off, here are my specs:
AMD FX 4300 Piledriver 3.8GHz Quad Core
Zotac GTX 750Ti 2GB
8GB 1600 DDR3 RAM
(dont laugh at this one), 80GB and 160GB hard drives
Windows 7 64bit
EVERY performance tweak ever discovered in dayz is used

so yesterday i got my new Zotac GTX 750Ti to replace my GT610. in Battlefield Bad Company 2, i went from 20-30fps on 720p with minimum settings, to 60-100+fps on MAX settings. but heres my issue:
on DayZ (mod or standalone doesnt matter, its the same problem on both), i get around 20-40fps. no matter what. i could put ALL my settings on Very low/minimum. id get around 25-40 fps. and i could put all my settings on max and get around 23-38 fps. such a tiny fps drop for a massive settings change right?
is there anything i can do about this if it is my CPU causing the issue? ill be pretty surprised if it is the cpu tbh, and thanks in advance to any replies

I'd also like to add that my CPU usage (looking at task manager) while im playing DayZ, normally stays around 40-60% usage and in some cases hits 70%. but if it was bottlenecking wouldnt it be around 90-100%? and if my GPU is the bottleneck, wouldnt the fps change with different graphical settings? so if neither of those are the bottleneck.. THEN WAT IS IT? lol

The platform that Dayz is based on is not a very good one. The ARMA games tend to have poor performance no matter what hardware you have.

With Dayz, it's most likely the game not your computer. Dayz is still in Beta where many people experience similar issues that you have with more powerful systems. Just do a quick Tom's hardware search or a Google search for that matter an you'll find hundreds of complaints.

It's probably the odd setup that the Piledriver architecture uses. Your CPU has 2 modules, and each module has 1 FPU and 2 ALUs. This shows up in Windows as 4 cores, but this is somewhat misleading, since each pair of cores shares an FPU. The CPU performs like a quad core while doing integer (ALU) arithmetic, but it performs like a dual core while doing decimal (FPU) arithmetic.

My guess is that DayZ is dependent on decimal arithmetic, and using both of the FPUs only shows up as tying 2 cores up.
