Corsair H100i issues

Hey all, not sure I'll get much help from Corsair on this one so I figured I'd go where I always get the best help and advice... right here at Tom's!

And sorry in advance for the long post!

I've been using my H100i on my first build for a few (3) months now, haven't had many problems with it other than the stock fans were so loud I could hear them with headphones cranked so loud they hurt! Anyways, replaced the stock with SP120 PWM High Performance and they are so quiet all I hear is the great volume of air they push (sweet!).

BUT, Corsair Link software (for future reference I don't have a Link Commander and will refer to the software as simply Link) reports the Max RPM of these new fans (and if I recall correctly the stock ones as well) at significantly less then what they should be. At first they were reported as approx. 2070RPM (should be 2350), then after a BSOD during OC stress testing they were reported as 2017(fan1) and 2023(fan2). Also after that BSOD (had a couple others previously due to game issues- State of Decay anyone?- with no problems :) ), Link was no longer able to implement the custom fan curve I had set. While monitoring the fans and curve in Link I even noticed that the "tracker bar" for the temps. in the curve graph would disappear after a short while.

So, I deleted my profile, un-installed link, re-booted my rig and re-installed Link. This is not a problem and I'd do that as many times as required while I stabilize my OC. BUT... although that corrected my issues with the fan curve it works now only if I start Link with windows, otherwise the fans are stuck at the lowest set point. AND the fans max RPM seems to be dropping every time I do this. I've had to do it twice now, first time max RPM dropped to 2001(fan1) and 2008(fan2) and this time they are at 1979(fan1) and 1989(fan2).

I've tried opening a ticket about this with Corsair support but after I fill out the ticket subject and the description and fill out the product info the submit button disappears. Tried several times same result.

At this point I'd just as soon RMA the thing but opening an RMA ticket also causes the submit button to disappear!?!

Thanks for reading and if you can PLEASE HELP!

Ok. Forget waiting 'till Monday. I just got off the phone with tech support here's what's up with these issues.

Fan Speed: They have a max RPM listed in product specifications (on the box and package) BUT there is a +/- 10% stipulation (although my fans fall below the 2115 lowest end max RPM target).
The issue of the Link software not detecting the right max RPM (in my case 2020RPM) is resolved by manually setting the fan speed to Max Speed - they ramped back up and Link software detected the "new" higher speed.

Custom Fan Curve no longer working: My solution posted above is what is needed to fix that issue if it happens. They didn't have a fix and said if that worked to go with it. They have no solution other than to make sure both...

I would say call Corsair rather than use their online tools, if they've been that much trouble. If they agree to replace the product make sure you install the stock fans on the thing again before returning it (that is if they want the thing back at all). If you ordered it from a retailer (tigerdirect, newegg, doesn't matter) it's not difficult to convince them to replace such a product if it is relatively new. Of course try Corsair first, then the retailer.

I wish you luck.

Thanks clayofthe757. I (un-fortunately) bought it (and the rest of the components for my rig) from a local retailer that I'm currently not impressed with. Doubt they'd take it back or replace it anyhow.

I'm going to call Corsair on Monday if I can't get this issue resolved with or without their help first.

Thanks again for the input and the luck! :)

They have no solution other than to make sure both instances of Corsair Link (Corsair Link and Corsair Link Hardware monitor) are running in task manager. If they aren't, you most likely have to use my method to get the Hardware monitor going (it won't even show up otherwise so you can't "enable" it).

Problems with submitting tickets and Live Chat: This is a known problem with compatibility in Internet Explorer (no issues with FireFox or Chrome). To solve use a different browser or run the Corsair page(s) in IE's compatibility mode.

Hope this helps anyone else that might have these issues!
