My computer turns ON when I move the mouse.

Hi guys!!
Its obvious that my wireless mouse is turning my computer on. I simply dont want that to happen. I checked all the "wake" options in BIOS, as well as device manager. Every device that can wake the computer is disabled in the BIOS, and in Device manager the "allow this device to wake the computer" option is unchecked. I dont know what else to do to make this stop.
My Motherboard is an Asus P5E3.
This is a new mouse, Microsoft Wireless Mouse 4000.

I would ask if it's a clean shut down or if by any chance you are just waking it up from sleep mode ^_^' buy I worry that is a dumb response to this....

This can't happen. You are probably not shutting off the computer and it's just waking up from sleep mode which is normal when you move the mouse or hit a key.

The easiest solution is "don't move the mouse" when you don't want the system to wake from sleep or monitor off mode.

well you are saying that my computer never turns off?
I use the traditional method of --->start--->shutdown via the mouse.
The problem doesnt happen when I press a key on the ps/2 keyboard.

No its a desktop.
specs: nxzt phantom 410 case (midi)
p5e3 (x38) mobo
intel Q9300 cpu
tx650 psu
corsair xms3 8GB(4x2gb)
Asus HD7850DCU2

I never put my computer to sleep and I never had a laptop. I always use shutdown. The fans stop, fan's led shuts off, only the small light on the mobo stays on and 1 small light on the PCIE cable.
When I move the mouse (or if i turn the mouse on in case its switched off) I get the ASUS logo, Bios POST, and then I load windows normally. This is what I think that a normal boot is.
I think its the mouse thats deffective, maybe its transmitting waves in awkward frequency that are messing with my mobo clock i have no idea should I rma it?? its the first wireless mouse that i use. thanks

If the PC is OFF, the mouse cannot influence it or turn it on.

Well, I pull the power cord(or flip the switch on the back of the psu), only then the pc will be truly OFF. In that case the mouse indeed is not influencing the system.
I read somewhere that when you turn your pc off, the psu still gives power on the 5v rail (thats why the mobo has a small light). So maybe my mouse can influence the system while in that state (shut down)???????

I dont want to ruin my psu by pulling the plug every night (OFF), and I dont want to hear the fans spinning in the night (sleep mode). So I choose to simply to shut down the computer.

I also don't see how it could really be just the mouse at fault...but if you want to then try a wired mouse on it I guess. The fact that the lights are still on shows somehow it's not off all the way. I'm thinking the mouse activity is being sent to the sleeping mobo and that activates the rest of the pc *shrugs* But why it stays on.....Idk...x.x'

I've NEVER seen mouse or even keyboard actions turn on a PC from a fully off state. If this is happening, it's a case for the books. Check with the mouse maker support, wonder if they can come up with anything, although it will take some work to show them that this is what is happening.

Take a video of the whole thing and stick it on YouTube, I'd like to see this also. Start from when you go to shut it down so we can see exactly what the computer does when you do it.

That is interesting. I took a peek at the BIOS options, the only power on looks to be PS/2 keyboard. You're not using a PS/2 to USB converter are you? Does this happen with any mouse or just that wireless one?

Check for a BIOS update maybe if you have not tried that.

This may be something to contact ASUS support about, there is another older thread about another ASUS system doing this without any BIOS settings http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/mouse-click-turns-computer-on.151832/

I am using a PS/2 Keyboard. If the settings are kept like in the photo, only the mouse can turn the system on. If I enable PS/2 keyboard then I can start the pc with either the keyboard or the mouse.
My bios is up to date. My mobo is 7 years old, they havent released a bios update in ages.
I have to try another mouse and see.
