I just recieved a new Seagate barracuda 1tb hdd from Seagate themselves after returning the original i bought. I've plugged the hdd in and tried to boo up the computer but am getting no response from my monitors, they remain black. Everything else seems to be working fans, cpu, gpu, pws. I tried to put my windows disk in and boot from it, but again...no response. Any help is appreciated.

More about : loading installing hdd

Did you boot from the dvd first? Did you install onto the new HDD?

take out the hard drive and see if it boots. If it doesn't it isn't the hard drive. Try to get into bios and set boot drive.

List your PC hardware.
What is your motherboard and cpu etc...?

clear cmos on the motherboard. Then try again. If you don;t know how, there should be a round battery that you can take out. Take it out for 10 sec and then reseat it.

Have you installed Windows to your new HDD?
Boot off the disk from the setup menu by pressing F8 and you should be prompted to reinstall Windows.
