I have a Geforce GT630M 2gb and no matter what game i play, I get these FPS drops where it starts at 30-60 and even up to 120 if I'm playing the old games, but it always seem to drop to 12 FPS for a second or something like that. I have searched through the internet but yet havent found a solution. I usually play stuff such as Garry's Mod, Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto 4. As mentioned, my FPS drops no matter what I play.
Please help.

My Specs:
Windows 8
Intel Core i3-2328M @ 2.20 GHz
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Geforce GT 630M 2gb (Nvidia)
64-bit operating system

Gt 630m.

Weak laptop video card.

If you get playable framerates with the odd fps drop, it may be throttling down from heat.
I'd check temps first.

Are you playing on a wireless connection? Bandwidth drops may also contribute to this. As in the computer is waiting on info from the server.

If it only drops for a second or two and is otherwise playable, and not overheating, I'd be happy.

That's not exactly a gaming rig there.

Laptops lower their performance when they think that they are getting too hot to cool the laptop down. This causes performance dips and lag spikes. It happens to all laptops as well. I recommend getting a cooling pad for your laptop or getting a desktop computer as desktops don't suffer this problem.
