I've been reading the Dell Inspiron specification at this URL:
www.engadget.com/products/dell/inspiron/530/specs/

Am I right in saying that the board would support any GPU in the NVIDIA 9600 series, or lower?
Don't want to buy a GPU that won't work, so though it would be best to verify my thoughts on here first.

First off, GeForce is terminating driver support for anything up the the GTX 405. They will still be usable, just no new drivers. Second, PCI E is backwards compatible, so even PCI E 1.0 would work. However, with the stock 4GB of RAM and the 2.6Ghz CPU, any super fast GPU would bottleneck at the CPU and RAM. Anything with over 500 cores and 32 ROPs would not be recommended.

Thought as much about the performance of the card being held-back by the CPU and RAM.
Thanks for the information about the discontinuation about driver support though, that was helpful.
So I want to avoid buying anything too expensive, pretty much.
Cheers.

My GTX 460 would probably work ok on your system. A 750TI would work too.
