I bought a pair of sennheiser hd 280 pro headphones sunday, well everything was fine. But when I try to listen to music with them, it seems way to quiet. I know it should be way louder then it is, I can hear the music and singing and a little bass but just barely even at max volume. I've tried them with my phone, my mom's laptop and my Sony digital audio center, and none of them make it loud. This is the most expensive headphones I've bought and I know it should be louder then this. Any idea as to what could be wrong? Should I just return them? Or is there a simple fix so I don't have to wait?

Hi, spitbaal91, What can I say, it's a professional tool and there's a insignificant chance for malfunction. Rather there's a problem with the impedance value of the phones - it's 64 Ohm kit, it's probably the reason for the poor volume. I'm using SOMIC CD-750 with 32 Ohms of impedance, the sound can blow out my ears at max volume. However, they're brand new, under warranty, you may ask for help from the seller or ask for help from the manifacturer.

Yep. Good quality headphones need quite often separate headphone amplifier. Normal integrated amp can not drive very high impedance headphones. That is why you have to use low impedance headphones with phones and MP3 players.

So?! That's the reason, allright! User my try with lower impedance phones and if their sound is okay, he needs to:
1) use an external amplifier
2) use other phones with lower impedance
My phones are completely ordinary low cost, I like their sound, but the user has to note something else - if you got studio-quality headphones, you must also have a studio quality sound source (good external SC for example), otherwise there's no sense of having one without the other. And last but not least - a good audio format (FLAC, APE, WAV, M4A) and others.
