Hi all, I am giving my old computer to my son for his birthday in a few weeks so i thought now would be a good time to try putting one together myself.....here is what ive come up with for a very first try. Im also a complete novice and most of what ive picked is based off hours of reading online and what the site suggested. Any opinions/corrections would be very welcome...my budget is $1000 or less (after shipping ect) also i have a monitor already. Thanks a bunch!

You don't need a mobo that expensive, look at asrock, asus or gigabyte boards in the 110-150 range, they will do anything you need.

I'd also go with the PSU i recommended, that corsair is decent, but not worth 90. The thermaltake tests just as well, only negative thing reviewers say is the fan can get loud, but that corsair case should block all the noise.

This is a much stronger gaming build for the price, I know it's a little over and you can put in a 760 instead of a 770, but this is much faster for gaming.

How about this....Its an AMD build. It has a fast ssd and the gpu is much faster than your previous build.

Thank you for the quick replies! Ive spent some time going over your suggestions, also took a trip to pcpartpicker and I edited my build. I think I did okay, based on your answers and some reviews on the site. bit out of my $ range but im hoping that with some price watching and hunting around i can trim it down a bit. Here's what ive got.....
