Hello,

My problem is that I just bought an Asus AMD Radeon HD 7770 2GB off of ebay in used condition but working and that whenever I switch on the PC it goes Long beep 3 short beeps which on my motherboard (P5N-E SLI) means new graphics card or failing video RAM. My other graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 6450) works perfectly fine on my 3-4 Year old PSU (550W). My PC has an absolutely AWFUL reputation. It always freezes at the starting windows screen it can take infinite time (max I've tried was 16Hrs+ to no avail) and it also freezes randomly when in windows. What I am wondering is how I can fix it if possible or if I should try and return it.

Thanks
MC.

the only other thing you can try would be to test that gpu in another system. but i would return it asap and get my money back. also, 85 pounds,(forgive me, im american) sounds like alot for a used 7770, is there not something new you could purchase thats close to that price and performance?

I honestly don't think it's the card it seems to be the actual PSU because the 7770 needs 2x the power. Also remember how screwed up my pc is.

the problems you described with your pc sound software related.

the issue you are having now is clearly hardware related. the 7770 does not require a lot of power, you said you have a 550w psu, which is more than enough to power a 7770.

have you connected the power connector to the 7770?

Yes I have connected the cable and it is definetly pushed in right. Not sure if I said already but sometimes the PC will boot properly. Thanks for the help.

Mannnnnn I just spent £85 on it and that is really annoying. I am going to test it on a friends PC and see. However feel free to keep suggesting things please.
