I can't decide which one to get. The 7770 is $80 with 1GB GDDR5 and the 750 is $95 with 2GB DDR3. The 7770 has a 2155 on videocardbenchmark and the 750 has 3233 but is it a a huge difference? I have a 23" 1080p monitor so I'm hoping to play on at least high settings with most games. I have an AMD Athlon X4 640 but will upgrade if needed (hopefully not). Will the CPU bottleneck either of those GPUs?

Thanks.

2GB seems an appealing option at first, but DDR3 is a deal killer. No matter what the price is, go for the GDDR5 version and that version ONLY(the GTX750).
You could also consider the 750Ti. Costs $120 I think, but it's more powerful than the 750, has 2GB GDDR5 RAM, and uses only 5W more.

Take score based benchmark sites with a grain of salt. The scores are not an absolute indicator of performance, and the highest end cards' scores keep changing.
However, look at FPS-based benchmarks. Knowing how much FPS a card should provide for a particular game at a particular setting is always a good indicator of what to expect.

1- Your title says that the 7770 is the ddr3 model. But your description says that the 750 is the ddr3 model.

2-Where did you find a ddr3 model of these cards?:heink:  They only have gddr5 versions.

3- I am assuming you are talking about the gddr5 versions of both the cards....In that case, the gtx 750 is much faster than the hd 7770. Though your cpu might just bottleneck both of these cards at some point.

Sorry, I meant the 7770 is DDR3 and the GTX is GDDR5. Not sure if we can post links but here's the 7770 from Microcenter:

Also, my motherboard is an MSI 760GM-P23. Will I have compatibility issues or should it be fine with either of them?

it should not, but you better find GDDR5 version HD 7770, instead DDR3. Because the lack of bandwidth it will only holding back the GPU to unleash its full power.

You asked if it can run at least high settings. Yes it can, but it will run newer games under 25FPS. These cards are more a budget and balanced card for between medium and high settings.
Both cards are about the same, but GTX 750 has better TDP and has ShadowPlay :p

Go for the GTX750, the HD7770 has problems with its memory speed (bandwidth) it will be slowed greatly with DDR3.
Memory size is of little importance with cards of this calibre, they're not fast enough the run games smoothly with memory intensive features like Anti Aliasing enabled-although for some modded games the extra memory comes in handy for extra high rez textures it's not, in my opinion, a deal breaker if you opt for a 1Gb card.
From the MSI website it looks as if you could easily upgrade the CPU to one of the much faster FX 6 or 8 core parts but as it stands I don't think the existing quad will hold back a GTX750 by very much.
