I currently have an Epson Stylus that for some reason sucks the color ink dry when I print in B&W, even if it is nothing but draft text documents. it even drains color ink if I manually select B&W on the printer itself. when low, it asked if I want to order more ink and when they are out, it will not print at all, even if I have plenty of black ink. Any suggestions on a color printer that prints/scans/copies, does not cost a fortune and will leave the color ink alone when I have no use for it? any help would be great:)

LASER. Ink jets are actually 'disposable' and often given away at a loss (free) to the maker because they make tons on the cartridges. Laser printers were always expensive, but have dropped in price to affordable ($70) for B&W and include Wireless/Wired connectivity (to share on your home network with all computers). Color Lasers radically dropped form the $10K they used to be, to now as low as $150 in some cases (shop around you be surprised whom has them cheaper then other stores). A Laser commonly is expensive cartridges (toner) about $49 each (Black, red, blue, yellow) but the pages per cost (PPC I believe it is) is radically lower. So for example on a Ink Jet you could do say 50 pages then run out of ink, on a Laser it is common to do 400-500 pages before you need to change the cartridges.
