Actually your computer is going into HIBERNATION. This is when it saves everything the way it 'looks' (what program windows were open, what files you were working on, etc.) into a file then when you hit POWER button again it 'wakes up' and reloads (seems slower starting) back EXACTLY where you left off. ALL Windows power options are easy to access, down in the tray (bottom right corner) click the power icon. Select More Power Options. Most of the time I also click Hide Additional Plans so I can select HIGH PERFORMANCE, even on laptops because I am not usually concerned with sparing my battery life as long as possible (Power Saver reduces the 'speed' of the computer to stretch out the battery life).
