hi, I have a Dell E6400 latitude that goes to a blank screen randomly .
It was loaded wth win 7 pro when I got it..
NOt sure if this is even sleep mode or not because if I have a radio station playing through the computer, it will continue to play .
The only way to start it back up is to press the power button which will sometimes take me back to the log in screen but will knock me off the net.
All settings are set to never turn off ( battery and power) .. and this happens even when the computer is plugged in and while I am actively doing things on the computer.
A nother thread suggested checking htat the screen saver is set to none instead of blank and its been set that way .
The other thing is that my husband has the identical computer and my screen is much less bright than his.e...even with all the settings set to max brightness ( and yes, I ve done the Fn and lightness button .. It will darken but te max lightness is still not good ) ...
Any help is appreciated .
Thank you .

The brightness is probably your CCFL backlight getting old and losing brightness (normal). If the radio keeps playing (assuming a net radio), it's not going to sleep...though i'm curious how long it keeps playing, i could see a few seconds while it's writing a hibernation file or something, but if it keeps playing indefinitely, i'm not sure. I'd go through the advanced power settings and make sure everything there is in order.
