Hi! Thanks in advance for any help.

I just acquired an asus sabertooth x79 lga 2011 motherboard. However my plan is not to keep it for personal use but instead I want to sell it. So I've been trying to test it but it won't power on. Ive been trying to use the screwdriver on the power pins trick. The only problem is that I do not have a CPU to go with it, but I was told that it should show some sort of signs of turning on. Like some fans spinning or something. But I'm getting nothing except that green LED. So what should I do? Should I see some signs of power besides the light even if theres no CPU in it, or do I need the processor?

Plus, I was also thinking it could be the actual power pins are bad. If so, could I replace those?

For the fans to even start on the motherboard, it has to require a CPU inside of the motherboard. The board will start right up once you put a compatible CPU inside of it.

Nope, the motherboard could be perfectly fine, you just need to grab a CPU and test it out. You will see fans spinning for the heatsink if the motherboard isn't bad.

Thank you so much. I was starting to freak out, now only if lga 2011 cpus weren't so expensive..

You could try finding a used cpu if its just testing, it's not like the cpu has to last very long. Or maybe buy and return after using, but I don't know exactly how that would work as it might depend on store return policies
