I recently reformatted my old laptop, its a COMPAL HEL80C ( I will post the DXDIAG). My problem is that when I go to install my driver for NVIDEA GO 7600 series the installation gets to about half way then freezes and crashes. On reboot I get past the XP splash screen and then sit at a black screen. The Windows logo is distorted and I have blue lines going through the screen also. I know I am trying to install the correct driver. Also when ever I system restore to right before I installed the driver I get the dialog for New hardware VGA compatible device, when I try and update it nothing is found. DXDIAG and device manager both have nothing for my display device, device manager doesnt even have the display option, and VGA compatible device shows up under unknown devices.
Here is what I find from DXDIAG:

I know the Bios is outdated at 114C there is a 120 update but I do not have a cd burner to make a boot disk from, would Bios being outdated effect the video?
