Hello! After an overclock my rig shut down. PSU gracefully shut itself off but no signs of a blow out.

My 1st rig specs: I7 3770k
Asrock Pro4m
PSU 650W medium cheap but with OVP and ESP protection
GTX 780

Now this is my frustration: I have bought a brand new PSU 950W Power cool brand and connected it to my motherboard but still would not power up (no lights no fans spinning basically nothing). Ok so I though motherboard died and bought a brand new Asrock OC formula from Amazon.co.uk hooked it up still would not power up. Ok I though I bought a faulty PSU after reading some bad reviews on it so sent it back and bought a new on XFX Pro 850w Black edition gold. Hooked it up and guess what, it would not power up again. I though my luck run out so I called Amazon and they sent me a new motherboard. Hooekd it up to my brand new XFX PSU and would not power up. Note: all the 24pin ATX 8pin and the 4pins are connected properly and don't ask plz if I have connected the power supply properly because this is not my first build. So after 2 brand new PSUs and 2 new motherboards I have run out of options.

Also None of the 3 PSU's would power up with the paper clip trick ever.

Now my question is whether my house socket and mains do not give it enough power although my TV and other devise work properly. Also what else could there possibly be. I am going to a pc repair shop to test but they want £50 and probs will connect it and would not power up and say its faulty for that 50 quid. Please let me know what you think.

Ps: The Power cool 950w PSU blew up with the paper clip trick and my room lights flickered.

Hello and thank you for your answer.

Yes I do it every time without the GPU and no luck:(( I just want at least the fans to spin or some lights on mono to light up.

Yes, I always do it on a cardboard box to save time mounting and un-moutning the motherboard to the case.

While unlikely, it is possible that all of the PSUs were made to use the voltage requirement opposite of what you need. If you can, find one that has the voltage switch, and enusre the switch is set to the proper voltage for your area.

I live in Southampton and we use 240~ vacs

On the back of the PSU it says 100-240vac 11-5.5A 50-60hz

I am wondering if there's a problem with the electricity in the house.

I tried but because the PSU will not turn on, the readings shows as 0.00v but the power checking pen thing beeps to shows theres power going through the cables
