My keyboard isn't working, after disabling laptop screen and enabling spare monitor, via the ATI Catalyst Control Ctr

I hope I chose the right category. As the subject line says, I did successfully get my auxiliary monitor to work, but it took me hours. I'm not very tech-savvy. The original screen just went haywire and is unusable. I was so pleased with my success, but now I see that along the way, I did something, or something changed, and I can't type anything on the monitor I'm currently using. I can click on things and I was able to upload and burn music on iTunes, but then couldn't use their search box, because I can't type. Can anyone tell me what I can do to enable my keyboard? I have an HP/Compaq 6715b business notebook and I'm using Firefox and XP, if any of that makes a difference. Thanks!

Thanks, Outlander_04! I appreciate your response. I tried what you suggested. I uninstalled the keyboard via the device manager. I rebooted. When I rebooted, it automatically reinstalled. I was hopeful, but the keyboard still isn't working.

That re-installation of the software was what should have happened , and usually it would be enough to fix you problem .

Try heading to device manager , uninstalling the graphics drivers, and any listings for the monitors ,turn the pc off , disconnect the second monitor and reboot . Perhaps it will bring the laptops monitor back to life

Thanks, but the original screen is long gone. Was inspected by a tech. No good. It has a super-fast rolling quality, like an old fashioned TV, coupled with blurry greyed out appearance. Something like that. Started with some vertical lines, and then got worse. So anyway, I purposely wanted to use only the auxiliary screen.
