This might be a silly question but I was wondering if this was possible. My motherboard (a PTGD-LA) has 4 SATA ports on it so I was wondering if I could replace my IDE burn drive with a SATA one using one of these ports or if said ports are only for hard disk drives? My computer is an old HP Pavilion A1240n. Anyone have any thoughts ( besides chuckling at my noob question that is lol). Thanks in advance.

You can totally do that, the machine shouldn't have any problems whatsoever with you doing it. Is there a certain reason you're changing it out?

Okay thanks! Yeah both my drives are shot and a friend has a set of SATA drives laying around that I could get a little cheaper than new ones, since its an old machine I really had to put any more funds into it than needed lol.
