Folks - new to the community - great information. Found this thread to be close to the issue I'm having. Forgive me up front if I don't use the correct terminology. Little rusty at my computer terms and have to use "Mr. Google" to get information at times.

I'm running into a problem whereby I upgraded my computer to 32GB's of memory and the computer won't boot into windows, i.e., freezes while at the "Windows Loading" with the Window's flag. Harddrive flashes (reading) then goes off after about 2 minutes (no activity). Hoping one of you "guru's" out there can assist.

Here is what I have:

MOBO: Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 revision 1
Computer: Cyberpower Level 10 GT custom computer (I can provide additional specs - just let me know how...again...a little rusty)
Memory: Crucial 8GB Sport DDR-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9@ 1.5V x 4
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional

Issue: I can boot the computer just fine with 3 of the 4 sticks installed. I know the 4 DIMM slots are fine since I can put in my old HyperX Kingston sticks in x 4 and it boots up. I've already tried to eliminate if it's a bad stick, in fact Crucial sent another one today and it works fine in the 1, 2, 3 slot, but not the 4th in channel 2. I've switch out the memory to see if it's the DIMM, and it's not. Windows will work with three @ 24GB, but locks up during the boot as I explained above with 4 - no joy for 32GB's.

Contacted Crucial and they can't figure it out. Contacted Gigabyte, and they recommended upgrading to their U1D(UEFI BOIS) which I don't want to do and want to stick to the F13 BIOS for this board. They mentioned to ensure I have SP1 for Windows 7 Professional and going to ensure I have all updates, although I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional through the anytime upgrade.

I'm at loss at this point. I've even up'ed the voltage in the BIOS to 1.6 per Gigabyte's advice - no joy.

Any ideas? Thanks folks.

Folks,

I have searching for an answer on this and finally found one. Apparently I put in just the right search terms in Google.

It has to do with my onboard video card which I don't use since I have NVIDIA SLI. I set the onboard video to 256 and it works. I'm very surprised. Here is the link to the first write up that explained the problem and eventual solution:

Appreciate the one response I did receive.

Thanks.

i seen this happen with some ram and intel memory controller that build into the cpu. I would email both the ram vendor and motherboard vendor see if they have an updated ram list for the mb. with the ram vendor ask what chips are used on there ram sticks..see if you can find another band like gskill or cosair that sells ram tested for 4 slots.
