Okay so I was thinking about getting the receiver but i'm trying to get a solution to this tomorrow. Would anyone think this would work?

Would there be a way to make your own receiver using some tools or something along those lines. Also if there's any videos or pictures that would really help

What are you wanting to do, are you wanting to play your XBOX games on the PC? are you wanting to use your PC monitor to see the game?

There is this link http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/how-to-make-a-homemade-xbox-360-controller-wireless-receiver-for-pc.668839/
You can cannibalize an xbox 360 and remove the wireless receiver board, and solder on a usb plug and diode.

So yes there is a solution, only if you have an Xbox you wish to cannibalize, and good soldering skills to attach a usb plug.
They can be found for $10 on ebay though, much easier then possibly damaging your xbox board. Seems like a lot of work and risk to just save $10, the time it takes alone is not worth the $10.
