Need a little help here. His pc can't seem to run Splinter Cell Conviction even though his pc met the min. system requirements. When he launches the game, there's an error that says " The minimum requirement of ram is 2gb" or something like that when in fact, his pc does have 2gb of ram. What to do ? Btw his os is : windows 7 ultimate; maybe that's the reason ?

Solution
Its as I suspected. You need 2GB of FREE RAM. Windows 7 takes up around 800Mb or something. There are two options from what I read (quick google). Get another cheap stick of RAM or dual boot to windows XP where the requirement is only 1GB RAM.

Really though I would get a bit more RAM since windows 7 uses up most of that 2GB.

CPU: amd a4-5300
GPU: ati radeon 5600/5700
Motherboard : Gigabyte f2a88xm-hd3
OS: windows 7 ultimate
RAM: 2gb

There it is. The windows aero is off already but no luck. It is still giving an error. The cpu has an onboard gpu, do you think it's eating the ram?

Yeah, buying another stick of ram is the best option but I got curious; how do you dual boot? How about the GPU? The gpu is a ati mobility radeon 5600/5700; is it good for gaming ? BTW, That pc can run skyrim at high settings with no problem; and it has 2g of ram as min. requirement -_- how come it can run skyrim but it can't run splinter cell conviction which is older than skyrim...

I think its easier to dual boot from windows XP then add windows 7. Not sure how you dual boot going the other way (i.e. downgrade) but I'm sure google has the answers.

Radeon 5600/5700 is a few generations behind the game but probably has enough power for high graphics settings in most games. If you're looking for a cheap upgrade either the R9 270 or GTX 750 Ti (whichever is cheaper where you are) offer excellent price to performance.

Could be due to better optimization of the game engine on Skyrim which allows it to run with less RAM. Or it could just be a script built into Splinter Cell that won't let you start it if you don't have 2 GB free, even though it would work fine. Hard to say.

Definitely recommend a cheeky upgrade though.
