Hey guys,
So I just got myself an i5-4670k with a be quiet dark rock advanced c1 to cool it, all running on an asus z87-k board. Now I know haswell runs hot, but the problem I'm having is that my temperatures seem high while my CPU cooler is cool to the touch.
The i5 is at 1.2v, 4.3ghz and runs at around 68 - 70c with a 15c ambient under a prime95 load but i can't feel any warm air coming from the cooler. It does warm a little after a while if I stop the fan. The other interesting thing is how it jumps from idle to load temperatures. The change is literally instant, as soon as apply load. Does this sound normal or should i unbolt my cooler and re-apply the compound? I used the spread method (haters gonna hate), spread out a thin, even layer of paste and then clamped down the cooler so I don't think i did anything wrong there.
Perhaps this is just a case of letting the TIM cure a bit?
Let me know if this sounds normal to you and if i should leave it, or if i should re-apply using a dot method or maybe looser clamps or something?
cheers guys
