why amd's onboard graphics solutions are called APU?

i know that in APU both gpu and cpu are soldered on a single die but isn't that model has already implemented on most of the intel cpu which contain integrated graphics solution ?also the recent HD graphics where there is an onboard gpu with the cpu is present .so how different the APU architecture DIFFERENT FROM THE ONBOARD CPU-GPU MODEL?

I think, at some meeting/conference, AMD has went as far as to say, "Hey, even our competitor makes (mostly) APUs now, they just don't call them that," while pointing out how their own APUs are superior.

In short, APU is just a marketing term for a CPU with an iGPU; AMD is trying to show-case this aspect of their CPUs for the market. (Conversely, the FX-Series, which lacks an iGPU, are lauded for their overclockability.)

Alright, I honestly cannot understand what you are asking. So here is a basic overview.
APUs are different as in they use AMD's graphics core, the stream processor, on the die. This in and of itself pushes the APU ahead of an Intel Graphics solution. AMDs stream processors are much more powerful than Intel's HD graphics which is the reason APUs are commonly used in budget gaming builds or for people who do a little rendering and would like the benefit of the cheap stream processors on die.

An APU is designed so that a majority of the die space (the space on the CPU itself) is dedicated to graphics. For example, AMD's new APUs such as the 7800k are technically 12 cores: 8 cores for the GPU and 4 for the CPU. This allows for a nice balance of processing power and graphics power while at the same time using less electricity. And APU is a term for AMD's chips as well, advanced processing unit. They're not that different than intel's, just that there is more dedicated graphics power out of them.
