Hi I'm new on this forum and I have proberly posted this in the wrong place but here is what's wrong. So I was round my Nan's house the week and she said she wanted a new fast computer but wants to keep all her documents (she's a author) so I thought I have a pc in my room that I don't use so I can't just put her hard Drive into my pc? Well I've done all that an when boot up pc the windows xp logo then a blue screen flashes and goes to start with safe mode, starts with networking ect but I can't get past this stage. The computer that I put the hardive in is about 3 years old and the old pc was about 6 yeahs old so is it the old hdd. Or working with the new CPU ram ect? Please help I can't stand thinking about loosing all those word documents (also It won't start in safe mode or anything else and I can't put hdd back into the old pc because when Puged it in at my house the psu whent POP with a flash of light)

As you just discovered, you cannot just take a drive from one computer and place it in another. You will at a minimum have to perform a repair installation using the same media that was used to perform the original installation. You will then have to reinstall all Windows Updates and patches.
