Switched from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 on my HP g7 laptop.
Everything went ok with the usual learning curves but I need a video driver. The display is working with a standard video driver but its not the one that I need. Also need an either net driver but first things first. wireless is working for now as well.

I found that the solution for my question is to look for the previous version of my HP and try those drivers. They did work. Running windows 7 on my built in windows 8 HP didn't turn out like I wanted it. It is possible to install 7 and get the OS to run after switching to legacy in the bios but some drivers aren't supported at all. Of course switching back to windows 8 which is quicker on this particular laptop, I realised that My preinstalled media sweet was gone. I should have wrote my key down before uninstalling 8. The only way to get my origional windows 8 back is to somehow get my prebuilt factory OS back. Ill check HP support again and see.

Well what I found is that I needed to look up drivers for the next previous version of hp. They worked.
Ultimately though, what I did was switch back to window 8. I believe they designed the bios that way. It's how I learned about the UEFI bios vs legacy. With the overwhelming majority of Microsoft Users running Windows 7, it is kinda funny that 7 is legacy. Well any way I'm sure that when they sell "prebuilt" Windows 7's again soon. They will be running on a UEFI bios. But I haven't looked into that yet. I'm reall happy with my real legacy dell M70. I was a little surprised that it works so sweet after uninstalling Windows XP then installing Windows 7 pro.
