Hey guys,

Looking to build a gaming system with an i5-4670, 8GB RAM and a G1 Sniper MOBO. Just was hoping that someone might be able to help me out with deciding on a GFX card.

I'm trying to keep to a certain budget and there's a few cards that fall under where I'm aiming from the particular store I'm looking at.

Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC 4GB GDDR5 - PCI Express 3.0 - Battlefield 4 Bundle

Gigabyte (R929OC-4GD) Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 - PCI Express 3.0

Gigabyte (290WF3-4GD) Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 - PCI Express 3.0

Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GTX 770 4GB Edition (N770OC-4GD) - WINDFORCE 3X 450W

EVGA SuperClocked w/ ACX Cooling (02G-P4-2774-KR) GeForce GTX770 2GB - 256-bit GDDR5 - PCI Express 3.0 - SLI Support Video Card

I realise that its effectively just the 290 and the 770 there, but I had a few questions that I've so far been unable to find answers for. I've looked through a few different benchmarks but was hoping somebody might be able to explain a few things for me.

Also, I "think" the second and third cards listed (R929OC-4GD and 290WF3-4GD) are the same, though have different listed prices. Something I missed there?

- How much of an advantage does the overclocked versions of the 290 have?
- Is Gigabyte a good name for graphics cards or should I be looking more towards EVGA, Asus etc?
- Which of the cards is going to be the best/easiest when it comes time to (possibly in the future) SLI/Crossfire?
- What kind of PSU would you recommend with these level cards in combination with the other specs I listed at the start?
- If you had to pick one for your own system, which would it be?

Thanks heaps to anyone who took the time out to read this, just been trying to work out the best way for me to put together a gaming machine that's going to run things on (hopefully) their highest settings.

I spent ages thinking the GTX770 was the card for me before discovering I could get the 290 within my price range, so now I've become conflicted, haha. :)

Solution
-EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX770 2GB is the way to go.

-4GB version is useless.

-With ACX cooling it will be better with the gtx 770 to overclock.

-atleast 550watts 80+Bronze or greater.

-the gtx 770 is better in sli over the r9 290.

-Evga makes the best cooling.

-i would choose the gtx 770.

I have the evga and I love it, the above post is 100% true on how great the card is and no need for 4gb. But that said, im not a fan of amd graphics, the r9 290 is better than the 770. But the 290 will run very hot, even with gigabytes tri cooler it will still run hot. But it will be better performance than a 770. the 780 and the 290/290x are more comparable. the 770 is comparable to the 280x card.
