What do you have on the memory stick? Your Windows recovery disk or a regular Windows installer?

Windows cannot read the file system used by Linux. It can't even 'see' it.
Suggestion:
You will have to format the hard drive. To do this you will need a program that burns to CD. DBAN is good, but takes days sometimes. Try installing Windows after that

P.S. Remember to choose best answer

Thank you for not asking for help with Kali as forum policy forbids help with hacking security.

Back to your problem, there are many boot cd images out there with disk formatting software, UBCD comes to mind and Kali might have gparted included. You need to simply format the drive to something windows can read like NTFS or FAT32 and then the windows installer can format to it's hearts content. Shouldn't take but a couple of minutes. DBAN is overkill, you use that if you don't want the NSA or your spouse to be able to recover things off your computer.:p
