What is the difference between 990 and 970, I bought 970 g46, a year ago, But I am feeling very disappointed because msi 990fx mobo price dropped , So what is the main difference between these 2 ??

990FX -- 42 PCIe lanes
970 ----- 22 PCIe lanes

edit: 990FX motherboards tend to have beefier PWM and more advanced electricals though there are some 'beefy' 970s -- just not to the levels of the more advanced 990FX boards

the chipset the is the basic difference and that changes every other thing but the thing about 990fx is it is a overclockers' board and is mostly bought by overclocking enthusiast and if u r in to overclocking then it will be an issue otherwise no need to waste u already have a good board
