recover the data from my sd card

i accidently took out the sd card from my phone and didnt unmount it before hand. now my data, specifically my songs, are missing. how do i recover them?

Is this a SD card or. Micro SD card
The SD card has a write protect switch which should be set to prevent further writing to the card

I assume you have a SD card reader
There are a number of free recovery programs to try
Testdisk +
photorec pair from cgsecurity.org
Recuva from Piriform

Recover data to your local hard disk
See if one program gets back more data than the other

Once all files have been recovered you can reformat sd card in phone then copy back data from PC
