wont boot after motherboard change.

I bought a new motherboard and cpu, the asus m5a78l-mle and amd fx 6300. Since swapping it over my computer wont boot at all. Ive checked all connectors and even reset the cmos, but nothing still. When I press the power button it turns on and all the fans start and I can hear the hdd and dvd drive start. But no display at all. I can hear the fan on my 7770 spinning but it sounds like it slows down then speeds up again and keeps doing it.

You need to reinstall windows and then load the new MB drivers, etc.
Can you get into BIOS?

With a new motherboard, your old windows does not have the needed drivers to boot.
You should, however be able to get into the bios. Usually by repeatedly pressing DEL or F2.

Is the 4 pin CPU power connecter plugged in? Make sure all cables, CPU fan and memory are plugged in tight and correct.

If all else fails, check the CPU for a bent pin.

It wont go into bios by pressing those and ive checked all connectors and everything is ok. The cpu is brand new.

I would still check the CPU and make sure it is seeded correctly and see if there might be a bent pin on it from the install. It has happened to me before. Those pins on AMD cpu's are easy to bend. Usually they can be bent straight again.

After a motherboard change, if you can't get into the BIOS, then I'd suspect something is not connected correctly.

Check ALL the cables and connections. Don't just look at them...touch, disconnect, reconnect.

Could be bad memory, a bad memory controller in the CPU, a bad MB and maybe the PSU?

Try one stick of memory at a time in each slot and see if it works in any of them.

Checked all connectors and theyre fine, done the ram 1 at a time and still nothing. And still cant get into the bios

Since you just purchased a new MB and a new CPU, I'd bet it was one or the other that is bad. Can you install your old CPU into the new board? Are they compatible?

Try resetting the BIOS. Take the MB battery out for 10 or 15 mins with the PSU unplugged. Install the battery and then see if you can boot into bios using just one stick. If this works you will need to set up BIOS again starting with optimized defaults and then anything else that needs to be adjusted in bios. Then load windows.

Put the battery back in and tried it. Still no display and wont go into bios.

Without another CPU to try or another board to try, you are kind of stuck. Check the PSU voltages. Do have or can you get a PSU checker. I got one on sale at newegg for about $12 and it has been a life saver a few times. You can RMA the board and see or the CPU or both?

Yeah im kinda hoping its the cpu as that was from a shop and mobo was from ebay so itll be easier getting money back or replacement from shop

Well thats strange, I put my son's fx 4100 in my mobo and my fx 6300 in his and his boots up fine. The strange thing is, mine now boots up and is installing all the drivers and loading windows ok
