I've been struggling with this board for about a week now and feel like I'm close to getting it to work but it's still having a few hiccups.
Original issue: using samsung 840 pro SSD (fresh drive), installed win7 got frequent lockups. Could never get Mobo to boot with my old SSD (which i tested on two other Mobos and they worked fine). I assumed the Mobo was broken and got a new one. I then started to have issues with the new one restarting randomly and not always booting. The lock up issue no longer happens. Found that 2 of the 4 sticks of ram I was using were not listed as tested on the asus website for this board (even though they are standard 2gig GSKILL sticks) removed those two and now it no longer crashes or locks up.
I still get the occasional issue where the bios doesn't see my storage SSD (which i recently wiped in case the old OS was interfering but still get the same issue). When I'm in windows sometimes the SSD gets seen about as randomly as the bios sees it. Other times when it doesn't see it, i'll get a popup message later on saying it's been detected (as if i had just stuck in a flash drive).
I also (when in windows) have issues where my mouse and USB mic don't get detected until I unplug/plug them in several times.
In the bios I found a setting to ensure all USB ports are initialized but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Does this sound like I have a bad board? I'm out of ideas as to what else it could be. I've tested the parts on other Mobos without issues except the CPU (different socket). For a while I was thinking maybe my PSU was bad (620W) but when I calculated the requirements for my last setup, my new one should require a little less power.
