Hi guys

Currently my PC does not have a graphics card, i use the integrated on board graphics. I dont really use the PC much except for work related and some light gaming. Now i want to play some heavier current titles (i dont want to run them on high settings, just playable is fine). My config is :

CPU : AMD PHENOM II 3.2 GHz
RAM : Kingston DDR3 1600 MHz 2 GB x 2
Motherboard : Asus M4A78LT

A colleague of mine is selling his 3 year old XFX GTX 285 (1 GB DDR3) for 100$, i dont know if i should buy it or not? Or can i get a better performing card for the same money?
Any help would be appreciated, i am really very confused right now

Solution
you can get a new, much less power hungry (more efficient) gpu for the same price. i would stay away from that card.

also, that card is close to 5 or 6 years old now.
It performs about aswell as a 7770/R7 260. Uses loads more power and doesn't support DX11, not to mention its used.

Considering you can get a R7 260 for about the same price, new supports DX11 and comes with a warranty. I wouldn't buy it.

i could not find a R7 260 for 100$, its costing around 150$ or more. Also i am using a stock PSU from Zebronics which is rated 450W, will i need another PSU like the Corsair VS550 ?
Please do suggest . Thanks

Depends on your setup. With the 285 yes definitely need a new PSU, no way around it. With the 7770, maybe. I don't really know if this is your PSU but if so, replace it. http://www.zebronics.com/products/gold-series/zeb-450w-t-sata-plus

Heres the R7 260: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127780

If you wanted to grab a "cheap" (mean low price, not low quality) a CX500 is around 57 bucks on amazon.
The VS is a nice model, I'd recommend it if you were going for the 285 as it is higher quality.

I dont live in the USA, i've seen the newegg one but i think they only ship within the US. I've searched on flipkart /amazon but all 150$ + . Although i was able to find a Sapphire 7770 on flipkart for around 100 bucks.

Ah, didn't know that. Yeah newegg only ships to US. 7770 is a good choice, I don't know if your PSU has a 6pin connector and if its the one I linked to I doubt it would be able to handle the 7770 along with the rest of your rig, that PSU really should be labeled as a 250w. The 7750 doesn't use much power (around 60w) and doesn't require a 6pin connector and its usually a bit cheaper. If you can't upgrade your PSU now I'd suggest getting a 7750 then upgrading your PSU relatively soon.
