just finished my first ever build and have installed win8 64bit. i dont have a monitor yet so im using my tv at the moment at 1920x1080 but as most of us know a tv isnt great for a pc as your are meant to be further away from the screen opposite to a proper pc monitor where you are mean to be close.

I was wondering if there are any tips for using a tv as a monitor, my graphics card has two DVI's, one VGA and one HDMI. im using HDMI at the moment as one wondering if using a VGA cable to the tv from the card would be better or a DVI from the card to a HDMI to the TV. thanks in advance if someone can help.

VGA will definitely be not be better. You are better with HDMI. Look TV is build with the purpose of watching channels and other stuff which are better from far, and yes monitor are build with sole purpose of providing work and display at close range. All you can do is reduce the brightness set the colors right. That's all you can do.

Look there is a major difference in the cables too, i forgot to mention that, some cheap HDMI cables will give you no better result than the VGA and the equal to it. I suggest buy the one with the most budget or the ones which support 3D they will give the good quality picture.
