I ended up overclocking my 4670k to 4.5 at 1.330v and I noticed that it was running at 4.5 all the time I ended up loading the normal setting in the bios, and booted and it was at 3.8 all the time, and I'm pretty sure that the power saving setting were on when I set them to default. So I'm wondering is there a way to make my pc voltages lower when idle when I'm not running high cpu programs, I want to increase my cpu lifespan.

Solution
A couple of things can cause this.

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. to enter the Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, then on the CPU tab. This will show you what program is eating up your CPU resources. You may have a program stuck in loop.

2. Click the power icon on the extreme right of the taskbar at the very bottom of your screen. Then click "More Power Options". After that, click on the power plan that you are currently using (Usually Balanced). Then click "Change Advanced Power Settings". Scroll down to "Processor Power Management". Make sure that the "Minimum" isn't set to 100%. 10% or so is a good setting.

See if either of those solutions work and let me know.

I did set the default setting in the bios, and nothing really eating anything up my cpu. I disable any programs I don't use or need at boot, Since my cpu is at 0%. I did check the power management setting and it was set to performance, I change it to balance and it lowered the voltage of the pc when idle thanks.

Glad to help!
