Using Old Card to Run Second Display

Hi,
So I have been running dual monitors for a while now, on my GTX570. But I have noticed that it runs quite hot whilst idling. (Which annoyingly makes my room really hot.) I recently put in my old 9800GT, to run the second monitor and it seems to have helped with running cooler whilst idling.
However I would like to know if this will affect performance in games?
I obviously only run the games off the monitor connected to the GTX570, but wasn't sure if having the other card would have any affect?

Other specs (that might hep with discussion):
Gigabyte 990FXA-D3
AMD Phenom II x6 1055T
8GB RAM

Thanks
Best regards

If anything it will improve your gaming experience a little bit as you are only adding more power. However, you won't notice much difference with that card.
