First time builder. Do I need to purchase any 'aftermarket' cooling system (fan, etc.)? Or would the stock CPU heat sink/fan and fan in the case work well enough?

CPU Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB 2.5" SSD
Storage Western Digital BLACK SERIES 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X 4GB
Case Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus (Black) ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply XFX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V
Optical Drive LG BH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer

Thank you!

i agree with the above the 212 evo is excellent and after market case fans is also a great solution for a nice cool pc.

212 EVO: www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/hyper-212-evo/

also check out this: www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002029 its probably better than the EVO.

The stock cooler is capable of cooling the i7-4770K at STOCK speeds although not at the best temps.

If you can, get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Good cooler that will cost you about $30 and will allow you to OC a bit.
