So I have $750 for my budget and can't decide which would be better for what I need a computer for. I will mostly be using the computer for coding and music production. I'm learning java right now and I do not know which DAW I will be using yet because I have just started with music production. I would also like to use the computer for occasionally gaming mainly minecraft. Whichever computer I decide to get would mostly be used at home but seeing as how I will be going off to college soon I do not know if I should build a desktop or go with the portability of a laptop. So if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

Here is the current build I am thinking about, although it is a little over budget:

Your laptop processor is crawling along, but the desktop one is, well, dual core. The RAM is faster (I think) in your desktop, so that's a plus, and I know from experience ASUS laptops have s**t trackpads and come FILLED with bloatware. On the other hand, it's a prebuilt portable PC. Are you open to suggestions for builds/laptops? If so, please reply, as I have quite a few suggestions. On a parting note, a 660 is kick-ass, integrated 4400 unit will struggle on MC at low settings. From experience again. Good luck.

Well, the 660 card for a desktop will kick the absolute crap out of intel HD graphics in a laptop. But it all depends. If portability really means that much to you, find a laptop with a dedicated graphics chip inside it.

well the laptop has a better processor but the video card isn't that good compared to the 660. any way the desktop can be upgraded in the future. but it wont be easy to transport
