I'm in the market again for a new computer case. I have an idea of what I want, but I can't seem to find the right case.

    ■ Mid or Full ATX Tower (Motherboard is ATX)
    ■ Lots of fan space (front, side, top, and back)
    ■ Cleanable filters in front of fans
    ■ Quiet is a plus, but not primary requirement
    ■ Large enough to hold 12'' graphics card
    ■ Great cable management
    ■ Bottom mounted power supply
    ■ Space for optical drive preferred (some newer cases don't have them?)
    ■ Smooth (NZXT 410) or modest (Fractal R4) looks
    ■ Solid build material (case must last a couple years)
    ■ Budget is $120 USD, but can be stretched to $140

Does anyone have some really good recommendations? They would really help me out.

The cases from Fractal Design have all the features you need, starting from the Core 3000. The others offer noise dampening materials on the inside of the panels and some other small features.

The Corsair 230T would be slightly more expensive than the Core 3000, having the same features, but better looks

I am not sure which case is right as I haven't needed to research them in quite some time. However, I have bought cases from Performance PCs for years or used them to research.* They've got a VERY nice selection, the prices are good, and I find it easy to browse the cases. The other place to look is Newegg since they have an almost unmatched resource in their vast reviews areas. I hope more people chime in here with something more helpful, but keep in mind that with the nicely defined parameters you've got listed above you could peruse a place like Newegg and get a good sense of what you like.

As an aside, I'd be sorely tempted to get a case with no included fans. Unless it is a top notch case, most included fans are noisy crap. If you want silence, cleanable filters, etc., then instead of looking for those included with the case I would look to add them and customize it some with whatever fits your needs best. The main drawback being that the cost may be prohibitive for your budget.

I hope this helps a little and all the best,
Aaron
