HI,Heres my little problem today,i have finally got WIN 7 installed on my new SSDH HYBRID HDD
still doing some tweaking on it.
I still have original HDD installed in my DELL E521 PC as 2nd. HDD can still access it by way the BIOS and change boot order.
Have all that was on original HDD on a WD X-TERNAL HDD that is 8 yrs. old i want to transfer all of the data from it to my new HDD these PC'S can be a little unforgiving sometimes when you do things to them that they do not like.
My question today is can i just go into WD HDD and do what they call retrieve and install all of the data that is on to my new HDD,I understand that maybe somethings may not transfer like drivers
has anybody had any experience with this procedure,to me it is like using a transfer cable to transfer from one PC to another PC or is that a too simple to be true.
This PC is also the one that died on me i bought a used MOBO installed it and everything appears to be working now.
I know my PC starts up a lot quicker it also has the ability to left click and web page up in a matter of seconds now after install my data on new HDD PC may slow down we will see, thank you

You can use a linux distro(OS) or windows file transfer application. When you say still access the old HDD by changing boot order, you are saying that it still has windows 7 installed on it? I would go with Ubuntu on a bootable usb.

HI,Chiisu,No,what i said about going into the BIOS and changing boot order is i have WINXP OS on that HDD,WIN 7 is installed on new SSDH HYBRID HDD.
What i am looking for is the safest way to transfer all of my data that i have on my WD X-TERNAL HDD to the new SSDH HYBRID HDD.
Right now i have the WD X-TERNAL HDD hooked up to USB port, what i want to make sure when i start to do the data transfer is that i straight in my little mind is that i am going in the right direction with the process.
Since WINXP is going to lose future updates i do not think i have to worry about WINXP in the coming months as an OS just need to transfer data.
