Hi!

I've just put together my new computer with the XFX Radeon HD 7970.

Model number on GPU: FX-797G-TDFC

My parts:

Gigabyte GA-Z87-DS3H Rev: 1.1
XFX Radeon HD 7970
Intel Core i7 4770K (Stock cooler)
Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl
Silver Power 650W PSU

When I install the AMD Radeon drivers, this error comes up in my event log and my monitor looses signal for a few seconds until restored. Sometimes a hard restart is required.

Event: "amdkmdap stopped responding and has been restored"

what could be the cause?

I've connected the 8 pin and 6 pin power cables (two separate) and checked that it's seated correctly. I'm using HDMI to the GPU now.

EDIT:
Should I disable "intel Processor Graphics" in the UEFI DualBIOS?

Please help me, really need help fast!:)

Thanks a lot!
Kind Regards,
Erik

Hello again,

As far as I know your computer should detect when you plug in your monitor into your graphic card so you won't have to disable the onboard graphics but if it's causing you problems you could always try.

Have you tried connecting your monitor through some other port and not the HDMI?

Me and a friend built the exact same setup, and his is working flawless without any sign of error at all. His GPU is running like a dream. I'm returning mine for another one:) Thanks for your help though:)
