Hi All,

I built this machine a while back, probably nearly a year ago. When I first set it up I remember managing to get my SSD to work on the SATA3 ports but then for some reason I ended up resetting the BIOS to it's defaults and now I can't get the BIOS to see the SSD at all when it is plugged into either of the SATA3 ports. The SSD works fine in the SATA2 ports (though clearly at a good deal less than it's optimum speed) so I haven't a clue what is up with it.

I am using a SATA3 rated SATA cable, I have SATA set in AHCI mode (though I have tried the other modes out of desperation with no success)

BIOS revision is up to date (version 1301)
SSD has been updated to firmware DXT09B0Q which I believe is the current version.

Just in case it is important the RAM is 2x4GB of Corsair 1600MHz in slots 2 and 4 (as specified by the mobo manual) and I am running Win 8 x64

Really would appreciate any help on this one. I have always managed to work these things out myself in the past but this has me completely stumped

I just noticed that I have already posted about this a while back. Sadly the updating of the intel chipset drivers didn't seem to have a lasting effect... Any ideas?

Have you tried re-flashing your BIOS? That, in addition to updating the chipset drivers may do the trick.

Remove the battery from your motherboard and then clear your motherboard's CMOS. Reinsert the battery when done and see if your motherboard now detects your SSD on the SATA 3 (6Gb/s) port.
See page 2-15 of your motherboard manual for instructions on clearing CMOS.

I have restored the bios to it's default setting via the menu but haven't tried battery/jumper reset. Thanks, something to try when I get back home.

Right, Finally back from being dragged around a shopping centre by my better half.. Thank you for your replies.

I reset the BIOS which resulted in a whole load of error messages including:

The current BIOS setting do not fully support the boot device (after which it told me to go into CSM parameters and adjust the Compatibility Support Module)

And my personal favourite:
VGA Card is not supported by he UEFA driver.

After a half an hour or so of altering settings with the SSD plugged into the SATA3 socket/s (tried both) and repeatedly being told that there was no SSD present I plugged it back into the SATA2 port and now I can boot again.

I just swapped the SATA3 rated cable for an identical SATA3 rated cable that I have borrowed and suddenly the board can see it and it boots!!

Dodgy cable.. Serves me damned right for trying all the difficult stuff first.

Thank you so much for your help, it stopped me from just being satisfied with very fast disk access when I could have VERY fast disk access :)
