I need to know which gaming laptop should go for under 1500?

-msi ge70 apache
-msi gt60 dominator
-ASUS ROG G750JM

or any other in mind for this price range. and also is there a huge difference in performance between a gaming desktop (i7 with gtx 780) and gaming laptop like the ones listed above?

There is a massive difference in performance and price. For the price of a top-end gaming laptop you can get an absolute beast of a desktop PC with GTX 780 SLI and i7 4770K! Definitely go desktop if you want pure power!

Otherwise I'd go for the Asus or perhaps an alienware 17?

he asked what gaming laptop to buy and id say go with the Asus G750JM, of course desktops are more powerful. With some tweaks you can get the 860m in this machine to run as good as a stock 870m. I love mine.

None of the above, perhaps.

A Clevo/Sager 8278-S can be configured below $1500 with 120GB SSD, 1TB HD, and 870M

I am working on the same situation/budget as you (I think) and this seems to be the sweet-spot model at the moment.

One of the new AG220 MSI all-in-ones with similar specs to the Sager, but with a 22" screen vs 17" and 860M rather than 870M is my alternative. The MSI is likely somethat cooler and quieter.

There are a number of businesses, such as xoticpc.com which allow for configure-yourself laptops and all-in-ones.

It is also possible to build yourself an all-in-one form PC using a mix of desktop and laptop parts for less than $1,000, if you are so inclined. I'm researching such configurations for my Middle School students.
