I purchased a gaming PC three years ago with an i7-960 LGA 1366 and an Asetek 550LC liquid cooler. Friday my MB caught on fire, and, while the CPU is likely unaffected, I can't find any LGA 1366 MBs for a decent price. My plan is to purchase an LGA 1150 MB and i5-4670K LGA-1150 CPU. I realize now that the Asetek will probably not be compatible with the LGA 1150 socket. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,

Actually I did check the data sheet. But I have found other topics here on Tom's explaining that the 550LC will in fact work with some LGA 2011 motherboards. I was hoping someone would have some insight into whether or not it may have the same compatibility with LGA 1150.

You don't trust the manufacturer provides correct information? The site indicates that you have to use the Intel 1156 settings on your retention ring. http://www.maximumpc.com/micro-towers_review_2013?page=... They used that cooler on a socket 1150 motherboard.

It's not that I don't trust them, it's just that the cooler was released prior to the release of the LGA 1150 so I wouldn't expect it to show compatibility. Coupled with the fact that it appears to work with newer slots that also aren't listed and I thought I might have a chance to reuse it.

Thanks for the link. That gives me the confidence to at least try the fit.

As Asetek indicate in the FAQ, use the socket 1156 setup and you should be fine.
