Hello everyone. I'm new here so please bear with me. (a real noob when it comes to overclocking) I have a Vcore reading using HWmonitor of 1.776 volts and a VID reading of .723 volts. CPU-Z says my core voltage is .723 volts as well. Do I have a cool running chip or a hot one? My Z-87 Plus Mobo says my core voltage is 1.04 volts. I'm confused.
Sincerely,
Erik J.

Solution
"HWmonitor of 1.776 volts"

Holly smokes Batman. Turn that Vcore down.

"My Z-87 Plus Mobo says my core voltage is 1.04 volts."

Sounds like you have Vdroop turned on or some kind of voltage management. You system will undervolt your CPU when at idle to save on energy and heat. The more volts you have the more heat your CPU will produce. If you are thinking of turning the Vdroop off be sure to lower your Vcore first it is way too high.
