Get a SATA power extension so that you can make it reach. If you don't want to wait to get it up and running, you can run the unit without the 3-pin cable plugged in, all it does is provide pump speed readings, the SATA connector provides actual power. However, be aware that if you don't plug the 3-pin in and you don't have anything else plugged into the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard, you will get a cpu fan error when you boot the computer, which in this case can be safely ignored since you know the cooler is actually running but off another power connector (the SATA).
