Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card but don't have a spare 6 pin PCI cable so have been suggested to get an adapter.

I'm a bit confused though as I have found 2 different types which use a 4 pin Molex.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Pin-Molex-to-6-Pin-PCI-E-power-adapter-converter-graphics-card-cable-/190814965149?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item2c6d754d9d

and

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trueway-6-Pin-PCI-Express-Power-Adapter-Cable-to-2-x-Molex-LP4-Lead-006003-/190729421313?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item2c685c0201

Why does one use 1 Molex and the other one use 2? What one should I be going for?

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

R9 270 is a great choice! I am planning on getting another R9 270X 4gb for crossfire (270X crossfire beats a single 290X)

But anyway, 500 watts should be fine, but is it like a brand name PSU? It would be nice to know who made it.

That's pretty cool mate! Some serious gaming to be done lol.

I don't think a good brand to be honest. I just opened up my case but can't remember the brand name, but wasn't a Corsair or anything like that.

@MW Sorry mate, not sure what that means! All fairly new to me (PC gaming) so still learning.

It would probably be a good option for you to go with a builder series Corsair since you don't have a fairly large budget.

That's gonna set you back about $60 but you're gonna need a proper PSU to run a decent graphics card.

It seems like you and I had an identical situation :p I found this all out for myself, there is just no way to get around the need for a decent PSU.
(I managed to get a good holiday deal on a TX850M but it is like $80 more now than what I got it for:p )

That's so annoying :( But I appreciate your help, both of you. Looks like it's back to saving up for me!

@MW Just had that one up funnily enough. Should I be going for the fixed cables or semi modular?

I was looking at the 750ti before the R9 270...But I'm worried about my PSU now.

When I got a new one, it was easier to work with than my old one. New custom build parts are made to be easy to work with.
