two identical drives have different amounts of free space

i have a back up drive and yesterday copied all the files to each drive they are now identical file wise however they are not utilizing the same ammount of space they are not raid because i perfer to be able to see what i am doing plus i remove the drive and use it for copying files from other places
here is a pic showing the different sizes

how ever i checked each and every file and they are identical but it says that they are having different amounts of free space
 
Solution
If you're sure that all the same files are there it could be that indexing is turned on for one drive and not on the other. This eats up space, but makes for faster searches.
