I would like to upgrade the memory on my Gateway laptop. The specs, listed here, show Windows 7 64-bit, but says I can only upgrade to 8GB of memory. Is this correct? I thought 64-bit systems could handle more, or is another component limiting the RAM?
Thanks for the help>

64-bit Windows can indeed address more than 8GB, but only if your laptop's motherboard supports more than 8GB.
Same applies to desktop computers.

Yes, it is correct. You can upgrade only upto 8GB as your laptop (laptop's motherboard supports only upto 8GB). So I agree with the above reply 64bit that windows can address more than 8GB as long as your system supports above 8GB of memory.
