I'm getting problems with my GPU. When idling the temp is around 60C, but when I open up the game, it goes quickly up and reaches 97C max. 95C average. It keep staying around 95C when I play games. When I go back to the desktop while game is on, the temp goes down again to 60C. The temp does't go up to 100C and shut down, it just stays around 95C. What's the problem? How do I FIX this? The gaming performance does start to feel ALOT more laggy when overheating. I am using a laptop. Asus G75VW. I know, I heard such things happens with laptops, but I still really want to fix this. Or I'd have to buy a new one..

Thanks, help would be apprecitated :S

Try opening up the case and cleaning up the dust inside...you could also apply some fresh thermal paste......If problem persists, get an external cooler...

the idle temp you mentioned is higher then expected . . are you using any cooler stand for your laptop . . as temp raises components downgrades their performance to maintain stability . . check the air intake vents also

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I have opened up the case and cleaned all the dust with an air duster already. No, I am not using any cooler, no way to fix this for free? :S

I am afraid you'll have to apply some fresh thermal paste and get a cooler...don't worry both are pretty cheap these days....I'm personally rocking a deepcool x4 cooler in my laptop...costed me somewhere close to Rs 1700 (a bit less than 30$) and does an amazing job...

Ah, but one thing. The air comes out on the front of my computer, not UNDER it. Will such thing still work then? I doesn't come up any air from the under. If you could please check out Asus G75VW, then you probably know what I mean.

Thanks

A cooler won't be as effective as it would be if the air intakes were in the bottom, but it'll still help a lot.

Yeah....just saw a couple of pics...looks like that laptop doesn't have air intakes at the bottom. This will make the coolers ineffective.....So your best bet is to reapply some fresh thermal paste and pray to god that the problem goes away.

BTW you could also check your manufacturers website for a bios update. Maybe a newer bios with a bit more aggressive fan profile may fix this....

I've opened the case, cleaned everything, reapplied about every single part, no luck, tried almost everything.. So far it seems like there is no hope in this :/  Updated my bios too from asus website. No idea if I did it right, but it just says I got the latest version. When I did it, it went into some problems, like windows couldn't start, but when I fixed it, I wasn't sure if I really did it. But some software says which version I have, and it says latest of my pc :3

Something looks wrong....Generally the G75VW is not known to have thermal issues....I wonder if its a faulty thermal sensor.....Just a wild guess.....

Also post the temps of other components like HDD and mobo.....

Try to monitor your Temps with a software in order to see how temps change in different circumstances.
Monitor whilst playing a game or a benchmark to see if it is caused by this issue. Laptops are harder to troubleshoot in my opinion - but assuming you have took out the dust already you could also try - replacing the thermal paste because I don't usually hear issues with that particular model

Thanks, but got no idea how I replace the thermal paste, can't find a video about it for my laptop (Asus G75VW), any idea? My laptop is kinda hard to open, because I think i even have to open the keyboard etc..

Any help? going to try it out..
